Diesel Powered Generators

Legacy Power SA commenced service in Africa during 2004 as part an OFT Group Manufacturing facility and specializes in the design, manufacturing and supply of bespoke OEM and standard diesel powered generators ranging from 12.5 - 2 500kVA within the property development, retail, food, public, services and business sectors.

Type of Generator Builds

Specializing in the design, manufacture and supply of Bespoke Open and Enclosed Generator sets. Generator sets can be customized to suit the clients ultimate requirements, including but not limited to stainless steel canopies, integral changeover switches, residential silencers and various sized fuel tanks. Contact us for additional information and special requirements.

Open Set

Open set Diesel Generators have no sound attenuation and are used for indoor plant room applications. We also manufacture all-weather louvres and sound attenuation for these plant rooms. Our open set generators range from 7kVA to 3000kVA Prime output. Generator sets are either fueled from remote bulk, day fuel tanks or base mount tanks built into the generator skids.

Closed Set

Closed Set Generators are built as weatherproof, soundproof generators with the added option of a super-silent canopy. They are ideal for environments where noise sensitivity, ambient temperature and the environment need to be considered. Generator sets are either fueled from remote bulk, day fuel tanks or base mount tanks built into the generator skids.

Generator Applications

Specializing in the design of Generator Control Systems and Controller Programming offering a wide range of Generator Applications.

Remote / Key Start: Manual and remote start (MRS) system for single gen-set application.
AMF / ATS: Auto Mains Failure (AMF) systems are used where the utility power may be unreliable.
N+1 or Dual Mutual: Two standby generators covering utility supply failure at most critical sites.
Synchronization / Load Sharing: Up 32 generators running in parallel including parallel to utility supply.
Hybrid Solutions: Applications which use a combination of utility supply, generators and renewable sources of energy.
Cloud Based Solutions: Monitoring, data analyzing and management of the complete power system.

Remote Key Start

Manual and remote start (MRS) systems are typically used to provide prime power where the utility supply is unavailable. An MRS controller starts, monitors, protects and controls the generator and circuit breaker to supply the load. Integrated over/under voltage and frequency protection system of the controller ensures that the generator is protected at all times. Common locations a prime power system could be found include agricultural industry, construction sites and off-grid events among many other situations.

Automatic Mains Failure / Automatic Transfer Switch

Automatic mains failure (AMF) systems are typically used as a stand-by power source, operating in locations where utility power may be unreliable or where power cannot afford to be lost. An AMF controller continuously monitors the utility supply and in the event of a failure, automatically starts the engine and then switches the load to the standby generator via the automatic transfer switch (ATS). Integrated over/under voltage and frequency protection system of the controller ensures that the generator is protected at all times. Common locations an AMF/ATS generator would be applicable in the following instances:  property development, retail, food, public, services and business sectors, hospitals and data centres.

Synchronization

Synchronization systems allows for multiple generators running in parallel regardless of  the generator power outputs and from different manufactures.

The controller automatically connects and synchronizes the generators and utility to the common load busbar.

The generator control power system management controls functions like fuel optimization, running hours, multi-master and plant modes like AMF, peak shaving, mains power export.

Dual Mutual

Two standby generators covering utility supply failure at most critical sites. In areas with a reliable mains network, one diesel generator can be used as conventional emergency backup, but in reality, the utility supply can be unalienable and in many instances the client will rely on two gen-sets to provide a suitable backup.

Two generator controllers simultaneously monitor the utility supply connected load. In the case of a utility failure, the master controller will automatically start the engine to switch the load to the standby generator. The generator controllers will switch the power supply between each generator after a specified period of time for improved performance, service maintenance scheduling and eventual redundancy. The integrated fail-safe standby system provides high system reliability.

Hybrid Solutions

With the increasing awareness of the public of the benefits of renewable energy solutions, we can provide control systems to incorporate utility and generator supply with greener energies from solar panels or wind turbines. When the generators are combined with renewable energy sources we speak about hybrid systems.

With hybrid systems two goals are achievable, fuel savings and keeping the power system reliable.

Cloud Based Solution

Cloud-based solutions are designed for monitoring, data analyzing and management of the complete power system. A cloud-based system allows you an overview of all your devices status, location and other important data - all on one screen. If an alarm occurs, you will be notified by email or mobile notification in the mobile application.
